Owen and I headed up north this past weekend while Eric was busy studying and working. We had a great time staying with Aunt Megan and Jeremiah. On Saturday we headed to visit with Great Grandpa and Grandma Liechty. We took this opportunity to have Great Grandpa give him a little haircut. Owen did pretty well as long as we had a popsicle to distract him. :) Grandpa did a great job and Owen looks as cute as ever.
In 1950 Great Grandpa went to International Barber College in Indianapolis. Then he worked as a barber in for several shops before he opened his own shop in 1955 in Berne. In 1973 he started working at Harvester and tried to keep the shop open part-time but closed it for good in 1978. He moved this chair to the basement in his home and continued to serve some of his old customers up until just last year. I was so glad he was willing to come out of retirement to give Owen his first haircut!
