On Feb. 7th we flew to Florida. We woke up at 4:00 a.m. and headed to the airport in Indy. We had almost a 2 hour layover in Atlanta, before heading on to West Palm Beach. We picked up our rental car and headed over to meet Nonnie for lunch. No Owen did not sleep all day. Correction, he fell asleep on the 15 minute drive from the airport to meet Nonnie for lunch at about 1:30 p.m. He honestly did fabulous if you consider the circumstances but he was definitely not his usual self. I kept waiting for him to have a complete meltdown but he held out until bedtime and then he was DONE.
We were able to eat a quick lunch and then headed to a park where Owen was much more comfortable. :) It was great to get to see Nonnie and we were sorry we couldn't see Don but with Owen having a cold we didn't want to risk him getting sick.
I think it helped a lot that the flight from Atlanta to West Palm was short and we had an extra seat next to us that he could stretch out, literally as you see above.
The next afternoon we headed to Fort Myers Beach with my grandparents. The beach was so pretty as they have recently redid it. Owen loved it. He loved the sand, the waves, the birds, the people, everything about it. And he looked adorable of course.
He had dinner down by the beach before we headed in for the night. It was a great first day in Florida!
The next morning we headed back down to Fort Myers beach to walk around again.
We headed back to the hotel for lunch and for naps. Then we picked up my Grandma and headed to Sanibel Island. We went to Bowman's Beach and played some more in the sand and water.
I didn't get any pictures but we went to the world famous Bubble Room for dinner. It was delicious! Owen had grouper fingers and Eric and I shared Salmon and Grouper meals. Then we picked up some cake to take back with us and share with Great Grandpa.
