1 Year Old (a little late)

The delay of this post shows just how busy this little guy is keeping his mommy!

A whole month has already passed since Milo’s 1st birthday and it is already hard to remember what he was doing then versus just figured out in the last few weeks. Development seems to happen overnight at this age. All of a sudden Milo could take steps holding our hands, then he only needed to hold one hand, and he can stand by himself for 30 seconds or more. Any day now he will be off walking!

His first word was just a couple days before his first birthday when he said “uh oh!” He also says, dada, mama, ba (ball), quack when he sees a duck and baa for a sheep, Owen & Reilly (really just makes sounds in the cadence of these words.)

Just today April 22, his first molar on the upper left poked through. This explains why we have been up since 4:30 this morning and barely napped, runny nose, and several yucky diapers. Teething is hard work.

Milo loves to imitate Owen. When they are looking at each other in the car or at the table one of them will shake their head back and forth and the other will copy and they both laugh and giggle. Owen has started referring to Milo as baby lately. For awhile he was calling him Yiney and Miney but now mostly baby.

Milo has an adorable little curly mullet and people always compliments is pretty blue eyes. He is skinny and tall and I have to roll the waist on his pants to keep them from falling off his little bottom.
Milo doesn’t seem very interested in giving up nursing. It is his preferred method for falling asleep and basically will only cut back to 4 times a day. I am thinking that once he is walking he will be too busy to sit still so I’m not going to rush him too much.

Milo is a pretty good eater and will try everything. He doesn’t love many veggies but meats are a big hit. When he is especially happy with a food he is eating he tends to clap while he is chewing. J So rewarding to cook for this little guy.

Milo’s greatest loves – balls and stairs. If he sees either of these things he makes a beeline to get to them. He loves to throw a ball back and forth and has impressed many people with how well he has developed this skill already. He likes peekaboo and is very ticklish. He likes the songs Wheels on the Bus and If You’re Happy and You Know It!
